The Archimedes Screw has been put to use for centuries to move water and function as a turbine that converts energy from flowing water into mechanical or electrical power. This project was created specifically to serve as an educational bath toy that pumps water while teaching fundamental mechanical concepts. Print out numerous modular pump tubes to raise the water level to the desired height. Since there is no risk of leakage or backflow when you stop turning the pump, using a solar-powered motor to drive it might be a feasible option.
