Archimede's Coin boats
pinshape
We can predict whether an object will float or sink by knowing its weight and volume, thanks to Archimedes' principle. To verify this concept, I created two calculation sheets using simple geometric shapes: a cylinder and a square boat. In the more complex version, you can choose the type and number of coins, their arrangement in rows, the gap between them, and the formulas will provide the boat's dimensions for printing and the amount of sinking it will experience. There is also a simplified option where you manually input all the data and still receive the sinking amount. I printed both boats using a PLA nozzle with a 0.4mm diameter and a wall thickness of two millimeters.
