Skull of a paratype for Archelon ischyros, a colossal sea turtle that ruled the waters covering North America during the Late Cretaceous period. Discovered by George R. Wieland on an expedition in South Dakota, USA in the mid 1890s. Digitally scanned in 2017 by Chelsea Alene Graham, Digital Imaging Specialist at Yale Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, and Christina Lutz, Museum Assistant at Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, using Artec Space Spider technology. The digital model was then processed by Graham utilizing Artec Studio Professional, MeshLab, and Meshmixer software tools.
