It is considered to be one of the most important fossils ever discovered because it provides a link between dinosaurs and modern birds. Archaeopteryx was about the size of a crow, with sharp teeth, a long bony tail, and feathers on its wings and tail. The fossils of Archaeopteryx were first discovered in Germany in 1861, and since then only 12 specimens have been found, making it a rare and highly valuable fossil.
