Arcadia sliding door frame latch
thingiverse
This part replaces the original latch on a vintage 1960 Arcadia sliding door, which it attaches to the door's frame using a sturdy mounting mechanism. The accompanying photo demonstrates the authentic piece from the original model, alongside a printed mock-up generated with a Form One, and the final produced Shapeways part rendered in stainless steel. Instructions I opted for printing the part at Shapeways utilizing stainless steel as the material. The finishing process requires two distinct steps: first, drill out the small opening with a #29 drill bit; secondly, create threads using an 8-32 tap. Lastly, securely fasten the latch to the frame employing a compact low-profile screw head.
