Arcade Spinner Steering Wheel Attachement
thingiverse
I've been spending a chilly winter building an arcade unit, no-frills and substance-packed. I picked up a Spintrak arcade spinner for Arkanoid, Warlords, and more, but didn't want to splurge on the $70 steering wheel accessory. The printer produces three pieces that snap together with nine 4-40 x 1/2 sheet metal screws and nuts. The three screws holding the nut to the bottom can be shortened, so you might get away with using even shorter ones there. Mine friction-fitted onto the dial, but I predict that won't last long, so I plan on getting a pipe quick clamp to secure the nut to the spinner dial. You could probably scale down the print by one point for a better fit. I added two different top sections: one with Mame Retro embossed in a cool art deco font and another blank with a domed center. The whole setup is mounted to a subpar box that works okay for just the spinner, but it needs to be bolted down to something solid to use the steering wheel. I've included the STL file for size reference only – don't bother printing it. Edit: I added a clamp to tighten the nut onto the spinner. You'll also need 6-32 x 1/2" sheet metal screws and nuts, along with a couple of #6 washers. A wingnut would probably be a better choice, but I only have those in the wrong size.
