Arca Tumular D. Jordão
sketchfab
The tombstone existing in the Church of Saint Mary's Castle (Lourinhã), generally attributed to D. Jordão, is quite remarkable. It has a shield sculpted with a spear and a sword, crossed, with the spear having a flag attached to the metal. On the exterior face, it has a coat of arms composed of three fleur-de-lis flowers and a crescent moon inverted, with its points facing downwards. According to Vamos Falar da Lourinhã by Rui Marques Cipriano, page 18, D. Jordão was a noble knight who helped D. Afonso Henriques conquer Lisbon. In return for his assistance, D. Afonso Henriques granted Lourinhã to him through a deed of donation. A three-dimensional reconstruction generated using the 3DF Zephyr software can be seen here. Created by Rui Couto.
