The main goal here is to enable access to the battery door while the Panasonic fz1000 camera is mounted on a tripod, making it easier to use with a ball head. It also ensures that the camera lens aligns perfectly with the axis of the tripod. The screw used to hold down the camera is a 1/2 inch long 1/4-20 screw. To attach the handle securely, a 4-inch long 1/4-20 hex bolt is required. Before attaching the handle, you will need to tap the hole on the plate for the bolt and possibly drill out the handle with a 1/4 inch bit. This setup can be adapted for most other Panasonic cameras as well.
