Arca Swiss clamp compatible phone mount

There are now several versions/remixes of this mount available. All of mine are listed below. Arca Original Features Arca rubber band padded clamping surfaces 18.5mm ball socket only GoPro only Combo Arca / hotshoe Check out what others have done too! Sometimes I just want to stick my phone on my tripod, but it seems odd that my phone is the only camera in the house without an Arca Swiss compatible plate on it. We can't have that! Bolting a small Arca plate onto a phone mount of some kind sounds a bit too... complicated. The clamp fits phones from the size of a naked iPhone 4 to a Nexus 6p in a Speck case. The images are for a Nexus 6p in a Speck case and a naked Moto X. The base is 38mm x 39mm, the slider is 55mm long, and the clamp full closed is 60mm from top to bottom of both arc openings. There's a groove that goes all the way around, 1.2mm deep. Two 2.75mm diameter holes are on the bottom to accept 3mm diameter socket head cap screws for anti drop/slide protection. An unthreaded hole is available for use with a 1/4-20 screw. Be sure to tap this hole before use and take it easy when using this mount option, as threading a metal screw into extruded plastic can be problematic. The rubber band you use should definitely be less than 190mm in circumference. **Update Feb 3, 2016:** Spaced the 3mm screw holes on the bottom a bit wider apart. It was a bit too close together when I measured out my clamp with some calipers. Uploaded higher mesh files. Measured out my plates on my cameras, and their bases measure out more like ~39mm. Weird. I may resize the base to 39mm x 39mm. This may not matter depending on what kind of clamp you have. Something to consider though. **Update Feb 4, 2016:** Printed one out, and made some changes. Made the groove 1.2mm deep all the way around. The rubber band seats a bit better. Changed the arcs to be 13mm wide by 5mm deep. This accommodates my Nexus 6p in a Speck candyshell case much better. Made the 3mm screw holes deeper after I gained some space by changing the arc dimensions. I apparently don't have any 4mm long 3mm screws, but plenty of 5mm ones. Made the dimensions of the base 39mm x 38mm. It fit just fine in my clamp at 38mm x 38mm, but a lil bit extra never hurts. Put a "max" line on the slider bar. I have no idea if that's the true max, but it's notes that 1/3rd of the slider is left. I used a rubber band that had a 135mm circumference, and it worked great. A little tough to get the Nexus 6p in place, but still worked fine. **Update April 26, 2016:** I was happy with my mount until I used a cheap tripod that didn't have an Arca Swiss clamp. So cheap that a new clamp would cost more than the tripod. Added a 1/4-20 sized hole to the bottom of the mount. I don't have an appropriately sized tap, so I used a stubby 1/4-20 bolt to thread it. That works, but it's definitely not ideal. Use a tap instead. **Update October 25, 2017:** c4v3man commented that maybe adding a rubber band groove to the clamp surfaces would be a good idea. A couple revisions later, and I think we've got something that works. **Update October 26, 2017:** Since I was messing around with the model anyway, I figured it was time to do something I've wanted to do for a while. To decrease the "stack height" on top of my inexpensive flexy tripod, I slapped an 18.5mm ball clamp to the bottom of my phone mount. Epic. At least I think it is. **Update January 13, 2018:** SuGrobi asked for a GoPro mount. I haven't printed this one, but it should work. **Update April 25, 2018:** Found myself in a situation where I wish I could mount my phone on my dSLR. So, made one that can fit on a hot shoe and an Arca clamp.
