Arc Reactor Power Station
thingiverse
I saw the arc reactors posted here and got the idea to create a bedside table phone charger for an Iron Man fan's birthday. I used various parts: 20 5mm Blue LEDs, 20 100 ohm resistors, 22 gage wire, three M3x20mm bolts, and a USB splitter. The arc reactor itself is based on the remixes of several existing designs. I compiled a list of the remixes I used for this project, but made no changes to the original design - I simply followed their guidance to fit my needs. Most of it revolved around the electrical wiring of bass4aj's USB-powered design. I utilized Skimbal's original form with more LEDs in parallel circuits, and some "fixed" versions from balassy's Bluetooth-controlled form. The major edits were to Oneshotblu's stand, which I customized with extra sides for text engraving and added a blank plate on the back for personalization. I designed a USB holder that fits snugly over the splitter and attached a rocker switch mount using hot glue. I also hot glued most of the electrical components to the base of this stand, hiding them well behind the walls. There is space on the side for small pictures, such as polaroids from an Instamax Mini 8, to be propped up. I excluded a photo of these in the gift recipient's privacy. This turned out fantastic, and I'm thankful to those whose designs helped me create this. Although I didn't add much, I wanted to share what I did for others looking for a neat phone-charger power station.
