Arc Reactor Mark One 1.0 - Iron Man
thingiverse
I finally managed to build something truly unique. Although there are countless models available online, I couldn't resist giving it a try. I needed a desk lamp and wanted an arc reactor too, so why not combine the two? It was a brilliant idea. Using static models created by TheMaker77 and Mhaschak as inspiration, I started building all the necessary parts from scratch. The wrapped copper wire acts as the ground, with a separate piece of copper wire running underneath to serve as the positive terminal. The LEDs are directly soldered to one wire and matched grounds respectively, while a central light powers the LED ring. Inside the bottom cover, a small generator is cleverly concealed, controlled by a switch and a spindle. This tiny generator features a copper coil wrapped around a series of magnets connected to a lithium rechargeable battery. While it may not generate power on its own, with a little assistance from you, it can remain running and charged. I attached the entire assembly to a lamp rod made from flex tubing, which runs 12v through to a magnet. The reactor also features a magnet at the bottom, causing the two to connect when they meet. As a result, the battery charges from this external source instead. In addition to the main project, I included another light diffuser solution in the file, specifically designed for use with a Circuit Playground from Adafruit. You can find this fantastic product here: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3000. To complete the enclosure, I created a cover that fits perfectly over it. Building this project was an absolute blast! I may have gotten carried away at times, but it was worth it – and I had another print to finish soon anyway.
