I crafted and assembled a mount for the Iron Man Arc Reactor by Aelkaim for a costume party, sourced from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2799642. The build was created using Sainsmart TPU, allowing for enhanced comfort while wearing, and printed at a .2 layer height. A considerable amount of soldering and gluing were required to complete the electronics, but the end result was well worth it. All parts from the arc reactor were printed without modifications and then lit up with LED strip lights, which were carefully wired together before being encased in epoxy for improved light transmission and stability. Before applying the epoxy, it's essential to double-check all connections and ensure that all lights are functioning correctly. The list of materials used can be found below. Next, I disassembled the battery pack from the LED strip lights and removed the metal pieces that came into contact with the batteries, replacing them with wires. These components were then glued in place within the base mount that I designed. Additionally, a switch was installed to allow for easy on/off functionality without any issues. The arc reactor is secured within its base mount via friction fit, so if it appears loose, simply wrap some electrical tape around the part that fits inside and you'll be good to go. Once everything is in working order, attention turns to crafting the straps. I placed the main body roughly centered on my chest and estimated the length of strap required before sewing it onto both the front and back pieces. For the remaining two straps, I sewed separate ones to the front and back and used a piece that serves as a tension adjuster to connect them together, finishing with a clip to hold everything in place. If you're having trouble understanding this process, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification in the comments below. To complete my Iron Man Arc Reactor costume, I cut a hole in a shirt and was ready to impress all my friends!
