Arc Reactor - Adafruit Trinket

Arc Reactor - Adafruit Trinket

thingiverse

This is an homage to Iron Man's Arc Reactor. I don't claim that it's 100% accurate in any way, but I drew inspiration from photos found online. For this project, you'll need: -an Adafruit Trinket 5v Controller -a 24 LED Neopixel Compatible LED ring -a single Neopixel Compatible LED (I cut mine from an existing neopixel strip) -various short length M3 self-tapping screws (~5mm) Remember to print with supports as necessary for the Diffuser and Center ring assembly. The outer ring needs to be glued to the diffuser once you've assembled everything else. To wire the LEDs to the controller, make sure the LED ring input is wired to the 5v, gnd, and #4 pins on the Trinket. Then wire the single LED to the data, 5v, and gnd outputs of the ring. The files are available publicly on OnShape under the name "new arc reactor" by Mike Via. Feel free to modify them as necessary...just don't curse me for my dodgy design skills! You'll have to download and include the Adafruit Neopixel libraries...reference Adafruit's website for more information. I've included the code I modified slightly from the included library below. I've uploaded code to mine that introduces a slow fade effect. I tied some string onto two of the backplate mounting screws to make it into a necklace, then pocketed a usb battery charger to wear it underneath my shirt...it was a hit at the Infinity war premiere! Enjoy!
