The beta decay of Pd-107 ions can serve as an electron source, capturing electrons from radioactive isotope Pd-103. This creates an electric circuit between these two different radioactive elements. Despite Pd-103's short half-life (17 days), compared to Pd-107's long half-life (6.5 million years), a higher quantity of the heavier isotope would be needed to balance their decay rates.
