AR15 Bolt Face Christmas Ornament
thingiverse
Christmas ornament styled after an AR-15 bolt face prints in 2 mirrored halves so no support necessary. It looks better with a drop of black paint or some Sharpie black in the firing pin "hole" recess. One half has a hole all the way through and the other has a recess with a thin bottom, which worked out well since it allows excess glue to escape in the middle when overdone. Assembly requires washing the hair spray off then giving the flats a quick scuff sanding with 320 grit to take the shine off. Glue the 2 halves together with super glue using stationary clips as gluing clamps, but watery super glue sets so quick with PLA that clamps aren't needed. In fact, it sets so quick I lost a couple because it set before aligning the halves. Gel super glue would probably give more time to align things. I included .stp files in case your software has a hard time with .stl dumb-solids like mine did. The "master" file doesn't have merged items like the hangar ring, so you can fool with the design if needed. I think I'll remove the ring and shrink it in Z a little bit to print one half to glue to my car like a Mercedes logo on the rear.
