This block prevents breaking the trigger Guard 'Ears" off of your lower receiver when hammering the roll pin through the Trigger Guard and ears. It also has a hole that will allow you to begin to hammer the pin back out again. Not a requirement for an AR build but something I preferred to have for convenience.
