AR-15 Minimalist Stock
thingiverse
I'm crafting a lightweight .22 AR style rifle and striving to keep its weight as minimal as possible. The longer stock weighs approximately 2.8 ounces, while the smaller one tips the scales at around 1.8 ounces. Included with this design is a separate file for a pin that securely fastens the stock to the buffer tube. This pin requires just one #4-40 1/2" screw to hold it firmly in place; although, it's already a snug fit and the screw can create its own threads. This model was printed on a Monoprice Maker Select V2 using a .2 layer height and 50% infill. The result is an impressively strong part that I'll use as soon as I obtain the remaining components needed to assemble my rifle. Printing it in an "up" orientation with the flat back section facing upwards worked well, and I secured it firmly on the build plate. When printing this design, I opted to include supports within the circular holes but omitted them from the rectangular sections (which is the default setting in Cura). However, depending on your printer's capabilities, using these supports might not be necessary at all. If you decide to remix this design, please consider sharing it with our community here.
