AR 15 Magazine Pouch Insert
thingiverse
This insert is designed to be inserted into a magazine pouch for an AR15 magazine with a shingle style design. The Curves provide tension by pinching the magazine, eliminating the need for bungee cords or flaps to retain the magazine in the pouch. Similar products are made and sold at what I consider excessive prices. Now you can print as many as you want. They are intentionally made long so that you can trim them to fit your specific needs. If you want more or less curve out of them for more or less tension, use a hair dryer or hot water to soften them and make very small adjustments. Recommendations: 1. I'd recommend attaching some velcro to the outside of the insert and the inside of the mag pouch using epoxy to ensure they stay in place when you remove the mag. 2. Leave the top lips of the insert just over the edge of the pouch, use a hair dryer or something and fold them over the outside of the mag pouch. I'm talking maybe a quarter of an inch here. Conversely, if you cut them too short, the fabric of the pouch can interfere with putting the magazine back in. 3. Print in PETG or ABS with the thin, flat edge on the build plate so the payer lines are in the direction the magazine will go in or out. Have fun. Oh, and if you really want the "high speed" kydex, trace the inner profile of this model onto an old 2x4, cut it out and form some kydex sheet over it that you can get at the hobby store for $1. Just warm it up at 250 degrees F until its pliable. You can even use a couple of cut off nails as alignment pins with the holes in the top. You guessed it, you can trace the outside profile and use it as the outside of the "mold". Once it's formed, trim it to your liking and use some acetone to soften the edges.
