AR-15 Action Rod
thingiverse
Don't use those crappy clamshell-style blocks, and don't spend hundreds of dollars on an action rod that isn't even designed correctly. This lets you secure hold an in-spec AR-15 upper receiver (and only the receiver, not the locking lugs in the barrel!) when installing or removing barrel nuts.To use, first verify your printer calibration by printing the fit test and making sure you have a tight but sliding fit inside the receiver. Then print the rod and fully insert into the receiver. Keep it from sliding out by securing to the rear takedown pin hole.Tested at 80 ft-lb torque, well above what should ever be used to install a barrel nut. If you have a stuck nut that requires more torque... well, you may want to just clamp on the barrel and break it loose anyway, instead of risking your receiver.
