Aquila pennata is a species of eagle that roams free in many parts of the world. The booted eagle, as it's also known, gets its name from the boots-like feathers on its legs. Mammal Zoo Berlin 2006-0264 is the catalog number assigned to this particular specimen. Esternum, or sternum, refers to the breastbone in birds like this one. The size of the booted eagle is quite impressive, measuring 73.4 millimeters by 51.7 millimeters at its widest point. This particular individual is a female, fully grown and ready for flight. Found in Tàrrega, Urgell, Lleida (Spain), on October 8th, 2005, this bird of prey has captured the hearts of many with its majestic beauty.
