Aquila / Ender spool mount 90 degrees for direct drive feed

thingiverse

This takes the original spool metal bracket and turns it 90 degrees so that the spool feeds easier when using a direct drive system as the extruder is no longer fixed in one place. one of the original bolts and Tnut is reused (I no longer have my original but a bolt length of 16mm is needed). The metal bracket is fitted to the adaptor using 2 x M4 16mm bolts and nuts. 17/9/23 added v4 that has a modified frame so that it can be used on a printer that has a dual Z belt driven system - the V3 design got in the way of the belt. I also thickened the filament guide section as some infill types (e.g. lightning in cura) were too weak with V3. V4 will work with a normal single Z gantry as well. Deleted V1 and 2 versions from the download. 12/3/23 added V3 version that uses the V2 frame but includes a filament guide that 'throws' the filament away from the frame. The wider slot is used, and is positioned so that the filament is 45mm away from the gantry (this line up with the extruder on a 3DPrintSOS OOTBDD adaptor). The slot is positioned to suit a standard spool . 9/3/23 added v2 version - only difference is that the wrap around the frame is smaller (7mm) on the front side - this gives a bit more maximum print height (on my DD system the filament tensioner arm hits the adaptor so this gives 13mm more max print height). Note the photo shows the adaptor 42mm wide as I modified an earlier design and realised halfway through printing that it didn't need to be that wide. The STL file has a width of 30mm when seen from the front.
