I delved into designing this extraterrestrial sculpture, drawing from an array of aquatic beings and actively working on it in zbrush. The objective of this piece was to craft a game-ready model that could prominently feature in my portfolio, thereby solidifying its place among high-quality visual assets. In order to achieve this goal, I adopted a cyclical approach to sculpting, continually refining the design until it resembled an authentic, believable form. As my inspiration, I closely examined giant squids and their remarkable ability to navigate underwater with fluid motion. In addition, I took cues from octopus tentacles, using them as a point of reference in the modeling process. The sculpture's mouth was meticulously designed as a conduit for water flow, which would pass through one of its mid-body gills once exited. Furthermore, tiny teeth lined within its walls served to capture any unsuspecting food particles that happened to navigate its opening. In designing its ocular structures, I aimed to achieve omnidirectional visibility. Its frontal eyes were positioned to serve as primary visionaries, primarily tasked with identifying edible sources of sustenance. In the eventuality of these primary visionaries becoming compromised, or even absent due to potential harm from external forces, a backup system comprising smaller, sentinel-like organs could be brought online, thereby maintaining a heightened state of alertness. Notably, only in low-light conditions could this extraordinary extraterrestrial organism's skin begin to emit radiant signals known as "bioillumance". It's assumed that such behavior was an instinctual tactic intended to either allure compatible companions for potential reproduction or effectively convey danger and warning messages to its predators.
