Aquarium Water Change - Diaphragm Pump Holder
thingiverse
I use an AutoAqua Smart AWC water change unit on my aquariums. Unfortunately, the pumps that come with the unit are trash. They are flimsy, burn out incredibly easy and the design of the unit means you have to place the pump inside your tank, and inside your water reservoirs. I replaced the pumps with 12v Diaphragm pumps purchased off Aliexpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002393562141.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.24fe1802GrBcfJ The advantage of these pumps for smaller (Nano and Pico) tanks is they move less water at a time, making them more accurate for small water changes, and they pull water through a hose so the pump itself stays out of the tank. You can easily hook up Auto Top Off and Auto Water Changes with just a hose into the back chamber or corner of your tank. With the pumps housed outside of the tank, I needed a way to stack them and hold them neatly. I designed a three-chamber box that holds three pumps side by side (for an Auto Water Change that's a tank drain, a tank fill and a freshwater auto top-off pump). The boxes are stackable so however may units you have, you can print multiple boxes. Line the cylindrical holder for each pump with some thin adhesive felt to make them extra quiet.
