Aquarium Surface Skimmer
thingiverse
This is an aquarium surface skimmer made with small suction cups from a local craft store and a compact USB-powered pump purchased from Amazon. The top of the device is designed to accommodate a piece of filter sponge, allowing for easy attachment. The filter plate requires precise extrusion widths to prevent it from falling apart. To achieve this, I used a 0.2mm nozzle setting on my printer, despite Simplify3D's recommendation against it. Fortunately, the design still functioned well. The tolerances in this design are tight, but they should work effectively with minimal adjustments. However, you may need to remove any excess material or "blobs" that form during printing. I utilized a USB-powered pump similar to the one found at https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LWXV7DE. Although this specific product is currently unavailable, there are several alternative options available on Amazon with similar features.
