Aquarium surface skimmer
prusaprinters

Based on surface skimmer by ArjitJangid (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2879673) but redesigned from scratch with easier printing in mind.

Added a mounting point for Eheim 727110 suction cups (https://www.ebay.com/itm/190794265260). Also made the top closed as our turtle tends to push it down, and I don't want the fishes to end up in the filter.

The pipe that goes to the filter is 16mm outer diameter.

EDIT 2019-07-07: My previous "top" sank after a couple of days, updated "Print Settings" below with what I found works best after a lot of sinking ones... :)

Print Settings

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

20

Filament: add:north PETG Gray

Notes:

Housing and rod is printed according to these settings. Rod top might need a brim or raft depending on how good bed adhesion you have.
Top is printed in ~~PETG as well~~**PLA as it floats better**, with 0.4mm wall thickness, 0.6mm top/bottom thickness and ~~50%~~**40%** infill to make it float at the right height. This will depend on how powerful pump you have, so you might have to experiment a little but this is what works for me.
Post-Printing

Just glue rod bottom and top together.

Category: Pets
