Aquarium Filter Sponge Adapter

Aquarium Filter Sponge Adapter

thingiverse

I was inspired by an Aquarium Co-op YouTube video to add a sponge to the intake on my Fluval 307 after watching their tutorial. The adapter has an inner diameter of 18mm, which matches perfectly with the one I needed for my project. The sponge I used has a 2cm inner hole that goes all the way through and is 7.5cm long, making it just the right size to fit inside the adapter without any issues. Since there were no special print settings required, I printed the part vertically, which saved me some time. After printing, I did sand a few blobs from the inside diameter of the sponge to make things fit perfectly with the adapter, and now everything is working smoothly together. Note: The original strainer has a floating ball valve in it that I didn't try to replicate because it's a unique feature that might be necessary for specific aquarium setups, but I'm not sure about its function yet.
