Aquarium - Brine Shrimp Hatchery (Modular)
thingiverse
A modular brine shrimp hatchery clip multiple units together and run them with a single air pump using a line splitter for a constant supply of fresh brine shrimp. The base is large enough to accommodate 2L soda bottles when multiple units are joined. The unit has two air line connections; one supplies the air, while the other siphons out the brine shrimp without disconnecting the pump, just turn it off. Print Settings: Recommend printing with 3+ shells and a layer height of less than or equal to 0.15 to ensure layers are air/water tight. Post Printing: A garden hose o-ring is required to guarantee no leaks from the bottle. If printing in PETG, pass a pipe cleaner through the air passage to remove strings and keep brine shrimp from getting hung up. On Safety and Longevity: Both PLA and PETG plastics are generally considered food safe but some dyes and additives might not be, so I use natural color to be safe. I recommend printing in PETG long term since PLA is biodegradable and the presence of heat and water will cause it to break down, though from all accounts, it will still last for over a year.
