Aquaponic water fall under gravel filter
thingiverse
So in the belief that you can do things yourself i sought out to make this aquarium filter for my low level aquarium that i am currently building. i only plan for 8-10" of water depth and to put some nano sized critters into this tank. I wanted a few areas out of the water to grow some things and add some visual interest so i figured a futuristic aquaponic watterfall in which i could put some hanging riparian plants would be pretty slick. The following "instructions" are plucked from my scattered brain so if they dont make sense you should consider yourself lucky. However If the following does make sense i am sorry. The base ring assembly will act to keep the filter media (still to be decided) seperate from the pump house (pretty self explanitory). In the pumphouse I have a small submursible pump. I left allowances for the upflow tube as well as for the power cord, an attempt will be made to plug these up once installed so the pump has to pull water from the base ring filter bed. Connected to the pump will be the upflow tube, it is designed to work with a pump that has an output O.D. of 0.500" The next part in the chain could be the upflow extension tube which slides onto the upflow tube. however the upflow extension tube is not required. Next youl want to assemble the upper deck and then install the nozzle into the big hole with the nozzle oriented to direct the water towards the back of the upper deck. This can then be attached to either the uplfow tube or the upflow extension tube. the upper deck is held to the aquarium with a little silicone. The base ring floats so i would suggest using something to weigh it down or use a couple dabs of silicone. the Upper deck and base ring assembly Parts are "assembled" with super glue and i go into further detail on this and the assembly of the base ring in my Youtube video. If youve made it this far your probably a smart cookie and can figure out how to print this so i wont bother recording my temps etc. I used PETG with a profile i have tweeked to get fairly decent results. and laid it out to try and cram it all ontot 3 build plates and it took a couple days of printing. Any ideas or questions leave a comment.
