Water Aerobics is a high-energy workout that takes place in shallow water, such as a swimming pool. Performed mostly upright without actually swimming, typically in waist-deep or deeper water, it's a form of resistance training. This type of aerobic exercise requires participants to be fully immersed in the water. Most water aerobics sessions are group fitness classes led by a trained instructor for approximately an hour. The classes concentrate on building endurance through aerobic exercises, resistance training, and creating a fun atmosphere with music. Various forms of water aerobics include Aqua Zumba, Water Yoga, Aqua Aerobics, and Aqua Jog.
