The primary objective of this open-source unmanned robot solar catamaran boat is to serve as a budget-friendly maritime platform for educational purposes and scientific research. This platform, fully fabricated using PLA through 3D printing, can be navigated via GPS waypoints or radio control. The design enables the transportation of an inner platform where multiple types of sensors can be assembled, including those for water quality analysis, microplastic detection, sonar, and testing electronics and programming. This prototype boasts a catamaran configuration measuring 1.5 meters in length, 1 meter in width, and 0.8 meters in height. Weighing approximately 50 kilograms, it has a maximum payload capacity of 15 kilograms with a volume of up to 60 liters (500mm x 400mm x 300mm). It can achieve a speed of 1 meter per second. Safety features include two emergency buttons for immediate shutdown and two inflatable bags in case of sinking. The primary power source is solar energy, but it can also be recharged when docked. Equipped with two DC motors, each delivering 100 watts of power. This project can be marketed as either a pre-assembled vessel or a DIY kit.
