APS UAR Semi-Auto Safety Mod
thingiverse
Replacement for the standard safety catch so the AEG can be converted to semi auto only with the bottom lever (top indicator) position as semi, and the middle and top lever (bottom indicator) positions as safe. The second safety position is still necessary to drop the safety bar lower for disassembly, but the barrel nut is slightly more difficult to slide past now. This modification will also make assembly and disassembly of the AEG easier, and use of the selector lever easier by removing the selector transfer bar. This may work with the standard trigger but is only tested to work with my curved trigger mod: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4209619 As always I have included the IPT file if you wish to modify it yourself. **Instructions for semi-auto conversion:** 1. Perform disassembly of butt compartment cover, fake suppressor, front section, rear upper cover, hop-up cover assembly, and out barrel nut. Remove gearbox, barrel clamp, and barrel. Undo screws for inner-mounting assembly/safety catch and remove the assembly. 2. Find the magazine release just forward of the mag-well. It also acts as a stop for the silver magazine release bar. Push out the pin and remove the silver safety transfer arm, and the connected transfer plate. (Only removing the plate is absolutely necessary but removing the arm makes reinstalling the gearbox easier. You will find with the plate removed reinstalling the front and upper assemblies are now easier.) 3. Fully unscrew set-screw in the silver safety assembly/joiner and remove each selector arm, being careful to retain the bearings. Replace with the newly printed part, making sure to orient the set-screw hole toward the rear. 4. Install set screw. 5. Install the inner mounting assembly/safety catch assembly and check to make sure safety bar engages. 6. If step 5 is successful, reassemble AEG, making sure gearbox selector arm is in the semi-auto position.
