APR - 1 The Air Powered Rocket

Hi everyone, I'm Zander, and I'm excited to introduce you to the APR-1, the world's first Compact Grid Fin Air Powered Sabot Rocket. This cutting-edge rocket combines missile stabilization, Tank Sabot, and air powered rockets in a single, awe-inspiring package that can be launched from a potato gun. The body of this incredible rocket is made from 6" of 1" PVC, which you can either print out or purchase/buy. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Prusa I3 Resolution: 0.25/0.1 Infill: 100% Notes: You may need to use Rafts on the grid fins for optimal performance. Post-Printing: Clean Up: After printing, you'll need to carefully remove any support material and rafts that were used during the printing process. Sanding/Glueing: To ensure a smooth fit, I had to sand the Rear Taper connector extensively before gluing it in place using superglue. This step is crucial for achieving a reliable connection. Design Philosophy: When designing this rocket, I knew that stabilization would be essential to its success. Since launching a potato from a cannon produces a round, cannonball-like effect, I needed to design the APR-1 as a traditional rocket with a center of mass near the nose and a center of pressure close to the engine or rear of the vessel. The grid fin design offers excellent control capabilities and looks fantastic. To achieve optimal performance, it's essential to balance the weight and aerodynamics of the rocket. By placing the center of mass at the front and the center of pressure at the back, you can ensure a stable flight path. Custom Section: Thanks for checking out my "Thing"! I hope you enjoyed learning about the APR-1 and its innovative design. Have a great day! ~Zander
