Apple Pencil Magnetic Holder
thingiverse
I have been using the Apple Pencil with my new iPad Pro for the past couple of weeks and spent $100 on it, making me very nervous about losing it. Despite trying various cases with stylus holders, none meet my needs, so I took matters into my own hands and created a magnetic holder. It works in multiple spots along the iPad Pro bezel where there's an internal magnet. A sharp edge from the PLA can scratch the plastic on both the iPad white/black bezel and Pencil, but with careful handling, it won't be an issue. To be safe, sand all edges to prevent scratching and I'm even thinking of adding thin felt to the interior surfaces for extra protection. Print Settings: I printed this part using a MakerBot Replicator 2, specifying the following settings: Printer: MakerBot Rafts: None necessary Supports: Not required Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 40% After Printing To attach a strong magnetic force to my iPad, I used scissors to cut a piece of freezer magnet from our dentist's office into a 7.5 x 15mm rectangle and applied super glue on the back, carefully pressing it into place where the part will meet the iPad. Be sure to avoid getting any glue onto your Pencil or iPad. Design Process I created this part using Autodesk Fusion 360, taking advantage of its capabilities to bring my design idea to life.
