Apple Pencil Case
thingiverse
Since my Apple Pencil turned out to be pretty fragile, I designed a custom case for safekeeping mine in. I intentionally left some extra space inside the cylindrical shape of the storage container so I could easily insert a cushioning layer made of soft felt later on. To add variety to the design, I've included two options for the lid: one featuring the iconic Apple logo and another without it. Similarly, there are two choices for the base plate. The cutaway version allows users who want to incorporate a fabric lining inside the case to attach glue strips with ease, ensuring the lining stays in place securely. STL File Specifications ================ * 3D Printing Parameters: * Layer Height: 0.15 mm * Infill Density: 100% * Material Settings: - PLA (default material) G-code files are designed to work seamlessly with FlashForge Dreamer printers. Rafts ---- You can opt for Rafts in your printing settings or simply leave it unchecked – both ways yield acceptable results. Supports ------------- Yes, supports will be enabled during the print job to maintain structural integrity and smooth out any bumps that might develop as a result of warping. Post-Printing Instructions ========================= When my prints came out, I used ABS for enhanced durability. To prepare them for further detailing, I gave each piece a sanding treatment before submerging it in an acetone bath for smoothing. The result after applying white glossy spray paint helped bring the print job even closer to the appearance of a real Apple Pencil case. Adding Custom Felt and Satin Lining -------------------------------------- I wrapped the satin over the cut felt and applied a touch of felt glue for secure attachment. Then I folded it in tight and fixed it securely using super glue at both ends. Once satisfied, I slipped this felt and satin lining snugly inside the split area of my Apple pencil storage case's bottom plate. On top of this arrangement, I made one last delicate move by carefully gluing a half-centimeter-square piece of felt to where the Pencil will meet the cap, preventing slipping or other kinds of sliding action
