Apple of Eden
thingiverse
Well this project was actually something I got from this website, not the one I expected, it was from thingiverse.com, however the URL was blocked, but luckily I still managed to recover it before I attempted printing it with various configurations of printer settings, specifically in Simplify3D. Before I proceed further let me correct a major misunderstanding about this model design. I must say upfront that the project in its current state is far from optimal as it has undergone quite some iterations in different slicing software including Slic3r, netfab and matter control. I did have to overcome bugs with the slicing algorithms in multiple applications so I think we can now say we've conquered them all successfully. I must stress at this point that I am NOT the designer of this 3D model. Instead, I merely followed the print settings provided in Thingiverse before the designer apparently deleted the object. Print Settings: Rafts- yes, Supports-any one will do; Infill: full coverage of a solid infill. On another note when working with custom sections you would have better luck by making support more complex as it reduces warping effects on any object made this way. For better quality, make the raft around 20% in size instead to ensure proper stability to hold up weight without breaking. However during simplification I found issues such as not enough ram memory which had been overcome but I will make one final note of the fact that I split my files because it failed the test so badly. However better results were achieved and they do still appear pretty cool once painted or with a light behind.
