Apple Logo Flip-top Box
thingiverse
The 'Apple Flip-top Box' is a must print for every Apple enthusiast. This one piece print of an Apple logo shaped container holds small things, while the top / lid flips backwards to open. At standard scale, the internal storage area measures 54mm (W) x 51mm (H) x 41mm (D), but it can be scaled up with caution as scaling down may reduce clearances and fuse moving parts together. A small amount of 'wriggling' is required to break the top / bottom free from each other, ensuring they move freely. This print should be straightforward on machines with a filament fan and good bridging capability, using PLA material or ABS if desired. Wall thicknesses have been kept thin to minimize filament consumption and print time, but raft is optional and automated support should not be used as it may fuse the hinge and fill the internal storage area. A minimum of 25% infill is recommended for strength. This design makes a cool little storage solution that can be used personally or given as a gift to any Apple fan. Printer Settings Brand: MakerBot Model: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.20mm / Standard Infill: PLA / 2 Shells / 25% or more infill Notes: Straightforward print that should work well in PLA on machines with a filament fan. Avoid automated support to prevent fused parts. Post-Printing Ready for use straight away, but be gentle when separating the two halves as the clearances are tight. A few gentle wriggles may be required, and if more force is needed try running your finger nail or a craft knife around the seam between the halves. In my prints on the Replicator 2 and 5th Gen Replicator, the halves could be freed by hand with minimal effort.
