Applause Machine
thingiverse
The Applause Machine is an Automated Puppeteer I conceptualized and crafted for a school assignment. Initially, I worked in Solidworks, where I created a functional assembly of interlocking parts that could synchronize to produce synchronized clapping motions at varying intervals. Once the assembly was complete, I proceeded to laser-cut each component from 1/4 inch thick wood. The individual pieces were subsequently assembled and bonded together using an adhesive. Notwithstanding the fact that the design functioned flawlessly within Solidworks, real-world limitations imposed by friction between the wooden components caused the machine to malfunction sporadically. Future iterations might yield improved performance if I opt for materials like acrylic, which would inherently generate less friction than wood, thereby facilitating smoother operation of the Applause Machine. https://youtu.be/TBQ0NwiNMT4
