In Brisbane's forgotten corners, a mysterious figure emerges from the shadows - Cornelius Dempsey. Born and died in obscurity last century, his life was a mere whisper in the annals of history. Yet, in an alternate universe where quantum space unfolds like a tapestry, another Cornelius Dempsey defied his fate by escaping the grey walls that imprisoned him for a crime he didn't commit. This Cornelius was a mastermind, as evidenced by his journals which reveal an innovative and inquiring mind that conceived a tunnel not to freedom, but through universes and dimensions. His destination? The site of Brisbane's infamous Boggo Road Jail, where time stood still. But did he ever escape the labyrinth of his own reality? We can only speculate. A trail of machine portals leads us to Cornelius' journals, cryptic clues that hint at his time-traveling escapades. Were it just machines and journals that made the leap through time and space? Or was Cornelius able to transcend the boundaries of his own existence? As an artist, I'm drawn to the whimsical possibilities that surround the Boggo Road Urban Village, a site steeped in myth and history. My latest public artwork proposes four interactive "apparatus for viewing transdimensional mechatronic variants" - time machines that blur the lines between reality and fantasy.
