Apollo Giustiniani

This magnificent bust of Apollo is a plaster reproduction of the original marble head statue housed at the British Museum, London, which itself was inspired by a lost Greek bronze prototype from the 5th century BC. Besides its residence at the British Museum and SMK, this masterpiece can also be admired at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. As the offspring of Zeus and Leto, Apollo shared a twin sister in Artemis, the goddess. Apollo's vast influence encompasses archery, music, dance, truth, prophecy, healing, diseases, sunlight, poetry, and many more domains. His name recurs frequently throughout Greek mythology as he played pivotal roles in events such as The Trojan War, among other wars, the Children of Niobe/Niobids, and Slaying Giants, to mention a few.
