The command module was designed as a frustum, standing tall at 10 feet 7 inches (3.23 m) with a base diameter of 12 feet 10 inches (3.91 m). Inside, the forward compartment housed two reaction control engines, the docking tunnel, and Earth Landing System components. The inner pressure vessel accommodated crew quarters, equipment bays, controls, displays, and numerous spacecraft systems. Finally, the aft compartment included ten reaction control engines with their propellant tanks, fresh water storage, and CSM umbilical cables.
