Apollo Bust - laser cut sculpture
thingiverse
I created this using Rhino3D, Fusion360's Slicer, Adobe Illustrator and a PLS6.150D from Universal Laser Systems at http://universallasersystems.com The sculpture stands at 14" tall and 16" wide. I made it with 4mm thick cardboard, which required approximately 14 sheets of 28" x 17". I highly suggest downloading Slicer for free, as it generates laser files from 3D models. You can adjust the dimensions to match your material's thickness, size, and desired finished model. When working with the eps files, keep them unrotated. If you want to nest shapes tighter, that's fine, but rotating slices will throw off the cardboard alignment in certain areas. If left untouched, the cardboard corrugations align nicely. Assembly was a bit tedious at first, but once I understood Slicer's alignment guides, it became straightforward.
