Apollo 11 Lunar Module

Apollo 11 Lunar Module

The Eagle Lunar Module was the first spacecraft to successfully land on the Moon, carrying two brave astronauts, Commander Neil A. Armstrong and pilot Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr., who made history by becoming the first humans to set foot on lunar soil. Alongside them was the Early Apollo Scientific Experiment Package (EASEP), a collection of self-contained experiments designed to be deployed and left behind on the Moon's surface, along with other essential scientific equipment and sample collection gear. I've been eager to create a 3D printable model of the Eagle Lunar Module for quite some time. Three months ago, I started modeling it in Fusion 360, but I had to make some adjustments to ensure that certain parts were thicker than their real-life counterparts to make them print-friendly. While I'm confident that the design will scale up successfully, I would exercise extreme caution when scaling it down. Unfortunately, work commitments have kept me busy, and I missed commemorating this significant anniversary. However, after much effort, my 3D printed Eagle Lunar Module is finally complete! To enhance its authenticity, I paired it with two astronauts from Hackbert's "Apollo Astronaut Repaired" model, which I scaled down to 25% of their original size. The design can be found on the Thingiverse website at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2213857.
