After adding DAC to an audio converter, I then turned my attention to enhancing the mechanical component of a device made from PLA. Once I finished printing that part, I embarked on a series of actions aimed at giving it a new and attractive finish. I decided to add a textured surface by using a grinding process. My objective was not just to roughen up its existing appearance but also create unique and varied features across its face. However, upon close inspection, it became clear that certain areas would require an additional layer of paint in order to maintain the aesthetic balance and give an even appearance. In my effort to obtain a smooth finish without any defects or bumps from spray paint or primer, I turned to filler material by MOTIP and carefully applied thin layers one at a time. With each coat still wet, I took great care to smoothen out all surfaces with waterproof grinding paper before the liquid was completely dry. Once multiple layers achieved desired appearance, final details of fine details were given definition by using primer coat on selected areas only, not fully coating but enhancing edges for extra precision when it comes time applying next paint.
