Merry AFXmas! This is a unique fidget-toy/Christmas ornament that offers a thrilling twist for those seeking an extra dose of Aphex Acid flair on their tree this year. Lying flat on the tree, it suddenly telescopes out over six times its original depth when tilted back, showcasing a stunning collapsed look. The design draws inspiration from the awe-inspiring T69 Collapse music video released earlier this year. The AFX-ified Gwennap Pit's captivating appearance sparked a desire to create a physical version to interact with and enjoy, which is now fulfilled. Since it's Christmas time, the ornament was designed to fit perfectly on a tree, featuring an integrated channel for secure attachment using fancy ribbon or thread. Creation Notes The process began with the collapsed vector source art from energyface on reddit, which was then opened in Inkscape and flattened before adding 0.25mm insets to create the gaps. The resulting svg was imported into Fusion 360, where it was transformed into a 3D model through extrusion, accompanied by the addition of tabs/slots at four external points for each ring, followed by a thorough clean-up. This entire procedure took place over three casual days, with three failed testing prints due to printer part fatigue. Fortunately, a few good specimens were printed before having to wait for replacement pulleys and endstop switches. Printing Notes This print is relatively straightforward; however, it's essential to calibrate your extrusion rate since the rings are only 0.25mm apart.
