Apex Vase
myminifactory
This vase was designed as a last-minute entry for the SelfCAD Design Competition on MyMiniFactory. I took about two days to design, print, and airbrush the vase from start to finish. The texture on its surface represents mountains or rolling hilltops, which is why it's called the "Apex Vase". I used the "Image to 3D" tool in SelfCAD to generate the texture on the vase's surface. After that, I copied the plane three times and rotated it by sixty degrees to create an equilateral triangle. Then, I stretched and scaled the vase before tapering and twisting it into its final form. Finally, I added a base to the vase and merged all its components together so that it was ready for 3D printing. This model requires no support material when printed. After 3D printing, I airbrushed the blue/turquoise color onto the vase to give it a finished look. When I added flowers to the vase after airbrushing, it really started to have a tropical feel! Check out the video I took while modeling the vase using SelfCAD at this link: https://youtu.be/JLglVH1FYnQ. The background music is from BenSound (https://www.bensound.com), and the Image to 3D texture was found here: https://es.123rf.com/photo_50831475_stock-vector-vector-white-background-seamless-texture-for-graphic-or-website-template-layout-interior-wall-decora.html. #SelfCAD #SelfCADchallenge
