Each claw is movable and can be opened or closed at will. You can also add a bit of string to the top by threading it through and tying a knot. However, this may require additional supports and could be difficult to remove. I found that printing in place helps to free up the claws after they are printed. Once you have removed them from the printer bed, pressing them against the backplates will help to release any tension.
