Apex GPS mount with ViFly Finder or GPS Mate
thingiverse
This design is because I wanted to mount a GPS that did not have a VTX antenna blocking the GPS's view to the sky. Additionally, I wanted the VTX antenna to not block the ability to use longer batteries, or moving the battery to better counter balance a heavy 4K action camera. I now have the option to slide a battery over the GPS if I choose. I could not see any designs that were close to what I wanted, and this also can take a ViFly GPS Mate or Finder 2 mounted underneath. If you're sick of waiting for a GPS lock before you can take off and fly, then consider using a M10 chipset GPS like the BEITIAN BE-220 and also using the GPS Mate to power up the GPS without your VTX running and over heating. Features: + ViFLy finder 2 or GPS mate fits inside a pocket that will protect them in crashes. + Finder 2 has position marked where to push to disable the beep. + VTX antenna sits flatter, as higher designs keep getting crushed on my backpack. + Side hole allows the GPS LEDs to be seen when they have a lock. + VTX antenna has room for round and also the rectangular sockets. + GPS needs no glue and can be pulled in and out for servicing. + Cable routing and servicing is made easy by placing GPS Mate and GPS close. The design is tested for a BEITIAN BE-220 or the older BN-220 as these will push in and stay put due to the lip design grabbing the PCB rim that is larger then the 18x18mm ceramic patch antenna. The GPS pocket will take any 18x18mm and smaller designs if you are willing to use tape or glue. Larger units you need to check if the larger size is due to a PCB. The iFlight BLITZ M10 (has compass and more features) looks like it will also fit and be able to use the lips to hold it in place. Printed with 3 walls, 5 roof and floors and a 10% in-fill this weighs just under 16 grams. It could easily be printed with 2 walls and/or made hollow to reduce weight. If you do not want the beeper or GPS Mate holder, this is easily removed by dragging the area under the build plate in your slicer so it will not print. Neat trick I use in Cura often, or you can use TinkerCAD to chop the bottom off. Does not need supports if you drop it down below the build plate before slicing, or minimal supports are needed only for the two mounting loops. The rest has been designed to print with ease if your printer can handle bridges.
