Aperture Science Logo Greg/Wades Herringbone Gear Set
thingiverse
To select an extruder for my first RepRap build (a customized Rostock with traxxas), I chose the Greg/Wade-based Rostock (Thing 60531 by RichRap) due to its suitability for Rostock-style printers and herringbone gear, which reduces backlash. To make my printer unique, I collaborated with roommate Erik Scott to modify RichRap's gear set in Blender, creating the Aperture Science logo gear set. Thanks to Erik Scott for his Blender work and Steve Kelly for printing on a Mendel90. Although untested, I released it early due to requests from friends at my school hackerspace. For successful operation of herringbone gears, use a high-precision printer and print with PLA instead of ABS. Ensure solid infill for the teeth, and consult the source model for more details.
