APC UPS Smart UPS 1000 Front Panel
thingiverse
I recently bought a second hand 2u rack mounted APC UPS from eBay but it was missing the front panel. Looking at other listings this is fairly common. Rather than spending a small fortune buying a replacement I thought I would set about recreating the original in OpenSCAD. As I have an Ender 3, it was (just about) possible to split the model into two parts and then join them afterwards. I've added some "tags" on the smaller right hand side model to allow the two parts to be glued together. (I used superglue and this seemed to do the trick). Rather than trying to do something similar to the original panel, this one attaches to the UPS using 5 neodymium magnets (12.5mm x 1.5mm) which are glued into the recesses (superglue again). After printing and testing the 1.5mm version, I've also added a 2.0mm wall thickness to go with it. You might find this makes it a bit more rigid. As you can see from the pictures I had a small amount of lifting at one corner for each print, but it doesn't affect things too much and I cant be bothered to do another print to correct it! just be aware of it on a big print on something like an Ender where its nearly the size of the print bed.
