This is a straightforward design that replaces the battery separator found in larger APC UPS battery packs. The full battery module consists of multiple smaller lead-acid batteries, each one separated by a small divider to prevent them from touching. This setup comes in handy when batteries begin expanding. The APC battery modules come pre-equipped with these separators, but they can easily break apart when removing swollen batteries from a defective unit. That's why I'm sharing this design today. APC models that use this type of separator are typically found in the Smart UPS series (4000, 5000, 6000 and others).
